What your house, unarguably is, is the place you live. The place you eat, play, work, relax, sleep... And you want your house to function on all those different levels with you. Recessed light fixtures are your answer.

For areas where you're working, like an office or kitchen area, we've got what is called task lighting. This is a lit space where the lights are placed in such a way as to provide sufficient light, while keeping down glares and minimizing unwanted shadows.
And for all the beautiful items inside your house, there's specific lighting for those as well. Do you have a new painting on the wall? Try an eyeball fixture to highlight the piece. Or maybe you lean in the direction of flower arrangements, thing in the round. Try several eye ball to help give the piece more depth, but remove deep shadows. How about a bookcase with all sorts of reading materials and those vacation souvenirs? Try a wall wash effect that would bath the whole area in light. Don't have a bookcase, in too small a room? The wall washing could also assist a room look larger. And if the wall is textured, set the lights a little bit closer in to create the illusion of more depth.
